The NOLA Detox and Recovery Center is a 36-bedroom facility in Algiers that is hoping to address the growing opioid addiction crisis in New Orleans. According to the Center for Disease Control, New Orleans is at the center of the nation’s growing opioid epidemic. New Orleans had an overdose rate four to six times greater than the rest of the state of Louisiana in 2020. The center is located at Saint Luke’s Medical Center, and treatment is available for both alcohol and substance abuse patients.
